Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova who is in the Kyrgyz Republic on a working trip had a conversation with Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Yerlan Qoşanov on 23 June.

Mrs Gafarova remarked in the course of their conversation upon the progress of the relations between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan whose bonds of friendship and brotherhood date back over many a century and serve as a firm foundation on which to deepen our strategic partnership and alliance. The year 2022 is the one in which thirty years will elapse since the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the two states; and it should be said that Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan have been able to arrange thorough interaction in a good many areas during those decades past, Mrs Gafarova continued. She also mentioned the substantial role in the progress of the relations played by the heads of the states.

Moving on to the topic of the input that the legislatures of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan brought to the above-said progress, the Chair of the Milli Majlis described the parliaments as a bridge between the two countries and emphasised the high level of inter-parliamentary interaction attained to date. Either parliament has a friendship group in action; our MPs join forces with success in the international organisations, too. Furthermore, the joint efforts made under the aegis of the TurkPA are a great help to the strengthening and deepening of the mutually beneficial co-operation.

Besides, Sahiba Gafarova touched upon Azerbaijan’s victory in the 44-day Patriotic War and upon also the new reality established in our region. As she told Yerlan Qoşanov about those, she told him that Azerbaijan had made her national territory whole again and put an end to the very fact of occupation thanks to that victory. Right now, our country is busy restoring her liberated provinces. Azerbaijan wishes that constant peace and stability would be achieved and maintained in the region, according to Mrs Gafarova.

Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Yerlan Qoşanov who had greeted Mrs Gafarova cordially referred to Azerbaijan as a very important and dependable partner to Kazakhstan. The Kazakh side, whilst attaching a great importance to furthering their relations with Azerbaijan, are also satisfied with how that process is unfolding. The high level of interaction today has in many ways been achieved due to the friendly and brotherly links uniting our nations; the collaboration has become yet more profound during the decades of independence, too, according to Mr Qoşanov.

The outstanding contribution to the progress of the bilateral relations coming from the legislatures of our countries was mentioned duly. Mr Qoşanov told Mrs Gafarova that the inter-parliamentary connexions were advancing and that was important as it made it possible to put our heads together regarding the matters of shared concern. Mr Qoşanov also underlined the significance of our co-operation under the roof of the TurkPA.

Other matters of mutual interest were talked over, too, as the conversation drew on.
