Delegation of Milli Majlis visit Azerbaijan’s Consulate General in St Petersburg

Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova called at the Consulate General of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the city of St Petersburg in the course of her working visit to the Russian Federation. The parliamentary delegation of Azerbaijan arrived at the bust of the founder of the modern, independent Azerbaijani State, our people’s National Leader Heydar Aliyev installed on the administrative premises of the Consulate General and put flower bouquets in front of it.

As she was talking to the Consulate General staff members, Speaker Sahiba Gafarova gifted books dedicated to the life and work of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev to the Consulate General.

An official reception was then given by the Consulate General in honour of the Independence Day on the 28th of May.

Speeches were made during the event about the significance of the Independence Day in the history of Azerbaijani statehood, the path of development our country has covered and the successes attained during the years of modern independence. Also, video clips were shown which told of Azerbaijan’s achievements under the guidance of President Ilham Aliyev, a worthy follower to the National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

The festive event was continued as a concert programme performed by acclaimed artistic figures of Azerbaijan.
