Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova had a meeting with Deputy Chairman of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates Tariq Humaid Al Tayer during her visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The successful advancement of the relations, which have attained the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership across all the sectors, was mentioned during the meeting; the activities and contributions of the parliaments were high-lit as well.

Speaker Sahiba Gafarova broached the importance of reciprocal official visits and of promoting the links in keeping with the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the parliaments. Contentment was expressed in conversation with the high level of co-operation in international organisations including the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA).

Sahiba Gafarova thanked the UAE parliamentary delegation for the support extended during the two-year APA chairmanship of the Milli Majlis, going further to stress that the APA was a common and effective platform upon which to expand inter-parliamentary relations. The successful chairmanship of the Milli Majlis in the APA was mentioned with a special emphasis in the course of the conversation.

A confidence was voiced at the meeting that inter-parliamentary co-operation would continue as successfully and in line with the principles of mutual trust and partnership.
