Speaker of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova Meets with Chairman of Permanent Committee of International Conference of Asian Political Parties

Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has had a meeting on 5 April with Chairman of the Permanent Committee of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties Chung Ui-yong.
It was remarked at the meeting that ICAPP serves as an important platform for promoting peace, security, and cooperation in the Asian region. It was emphasised that such meetings provide an opportunity to discuss issues of multilateral cooperation. Additionally, the participants touched upon the necessity of collaboration within international organisations.
Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova provided her counterpart with a detailed overview of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, established on the initiative of the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev. The Speaker also informed the Chairman of the Standing Committee about the steps taken by Azerbaijan since the organisation’s founding conference to ensure the institutional development of the Network. It was emphasised that the Parliamentary Network is currently becoming an important platform for international cooperation.
Also, they mentioned with pleasure the collaboration between the Parliamentary Network and ICAPP. It was said that the parties had signed a Memorandum of Understanding. Right now, ICAPP is an observer at the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement.
Chung Ui-yong mentioned the Parliamentary Network's progress under Azerbaijan's leadership and recalled affectionately his visits to our country. He shared the pleasant impressions of our country and its capital city of Baku.
The active involvement of Azerbaijan's ruling 'New Azerbaijan' Party with ICAPP was mentioned as well. Sahiba Gafarova emphasised the great importance that NAP attaches to it's activities in ICAPP and Azerbaijan's unfailing support for the organisation. ICAPP representatives monitored the elections conducted in our country.
Other issues of mutual interest were discussed at the meeting, too.
