Speaker of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova Begins Working Visit to Swiss Confederation

The Parliamentary delegation led by Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova arrived in Geneva in the Swiss Confederation on 22 March.

The delegation consists of the MPs Elnur Allahverdiyev, Soltan Mammadov, Sevil Mikayilova, Kamran Bayramov, Amina Aghazade, Shahin Ismayilov and Sabina Khasayeva as well as Chief of the Parliament’s Staff Farid Hajiyev and other officials.

The delegation were welcomed at the Geneva International Airport by Azerbaijan’s Permanent Representative to the UN Geneva Office and to other international organisations there Galib Israfilov and other official persons.

During the visit, Speaker Sahiba Gafarova will take art in the 148th Assembly of the Inter=Parliamentary Union, the 3rd Conference of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement and the coordination meeting of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly. The Speaker of the Milli Majlis is expected to deliver speeches at those events as well as to have meetings with several Presidents of Parliament and Delegation Heads.

The MPs are elected as based on the majority electoral system by free, private and confidential vote reliant on the general, equitable and immediate suffrage. The tenure of a Milli Majlis convocation is 5 years.
