Parliamentary Meeting to Take Place in COP29 Framework in Baku

Baku will host a Parliamentary Meeting on 16 and 17 November as part of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29). The event is being jointly organised by the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan. It is expected to welcome 92 delegations from 66 countries and international organisations, with around 330 participants in total. Among the attendees, there are to be 167 parliamentarians, including 12 speakers and deputy speakers.

The temporary Commission of the Milli Majlis against Foreign Interference and Hybrid Threats held a public debate themed “Hybrid Threats Against COP29” on October 21st. The attendants included Members of the Milli Majlis, representatives of the leading think-tanks, civil society representatives, experts and Rustam Mahmudov, the Deputy Head of the Parliamentary Staff.

Milli Majlis Speaker Sahiba Gafarova Addressed the 149th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union


Speaker of the Milli Majlis and Head of the Azerbaijani Delegation to the Inter-Parliamentary Union Sahiba Gafarova addressed the 149th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union held in Geneva, Swiss Confederation, and themed ‘Harnessing Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) for a More Peaceful and Sustainable Future’.
Welcoming the event participants, Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova wished that the forthcoming deliberations at the Assembly be successful and productive.
