Deputy Chair of the Milli Majlis and head of the Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan inter-parliamentary connexions working group Adil Aliyev had a meeting with the visiting Deputy Chair of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, head of the Kazakhstan-Azerbaijan parliamentary friendship group Balaim Kesebaeva on 16 May.

Adil Aliyev greeted the guest and then talked about the historic bonds between our countries, the bonds’ progress being in the shared interest and the great importance of inter-parliamentary co-operation for the advancement and strengthening of the friendship.

He also talked about Azerbaijan having freed its lands after thirty years of occupation, the new state of affairs in the region following our victory in the war of liberation and the perpetual advocacy of peace by Azerbaijan. Such peaceful aspirations concern certain circles in Armenia – so much so that they will leave no opportunity to obstruct peace. The territory of our country is amongst the most contaminated with mines; on the other hand, according to Adil Aliyev, Azerbaijan is one of the states with the least need in external assistance in solving this problem. Civilians and military alike are affected by mine blasts; they die or are wounded because Armenia would not give up the minefield maps, the Vice Speaker continued.

Despite all that, however, the large-scale rearrangement and amenity work going on in the historically Azerbaijani lands occupied and sacked for long years has given them a new lease of life.

Vice Speaker of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Balaim Kesebaeva thanked the Azerbaijani colleague for the warm welcome and expressed both her satisfaction with the continued intensification of the friendship of the two fraternal countries as well as a belief in our diverse co-operation promoting the progress of the inter-state relations. That our states support each other bilaterally and in the international arena symbolises our friendship, according to Mrs Kesebaeva.

The conversation also revolved round other matters of interest to each side.

The MPs and members of the above-said Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan WG Sadig Gurbanov, Sevinj Huseynova and Anar Mammadov also took part in the meeting.
