The meeting of the Milli Majlis Agrarian Policy Committee that was held on 21 September began with Committee Chairman Tahir Rzayev presenting the two-item agenda. One item was about the report detailing the work that the Committee had done during the 2021 spring and extraordinary sessions whilst the second item dealt with the 2021 autumn-session work plan of the Committee.

Mr Rzayev said as he was commenting on Item I that the past period had been marked by the results of the Victory won in the 44 days’ Patriotic War under the leadership of President and Commander-in-Chief Mr Ilham Aliyev and lit with the joy of that triumph. The Committee members had been active commenting on the social and political developments in the country and speaking their mind on the current issues of the region and country. They had also taken a staunch stance in defence of the national interest in the mass media and social networks as well as at the events they had joined.

Furthermore, the two past parliamentary sessions had seen the Committee look at 17 items at its 13 meetings. And that was not all: the members of the Committee had kept in touch with the appropriate state authorities, taken part in assemblies and functions and put forth opinions and proposals in the press concerning development and prospects of the agrarian sector. The incoming correspondence had been processed meticulously; all the issues raised in the applications and requests had been acted on appropriately.

Moving on to the 2021 autumn-session work plan, Tahir Rzayev singled out the Food Security Bill as one of the anticipated draft law arrivals. Besides, it is intended to check the agrarian situation in the liberated territories, discuss the key aspects of the agrarian sector’s growth and hold an end-of-year hearing with the participation of the Ministry of Agriculture to address the progress of the work done in the industry.

The MPs Eldar Ibrahimov, Javanshir Pashazade, Novruzali Aslanov, Azer Badamov and Aydin Huseynov spoke about the agenda items. They mentioned the crucial decisions and laws passed in the reference period in order to build up a legislative framework for the farsighted domestic and foreign policy of the Head of State and, especially, for the on-going reformation. The Committee members, they said, had maintained constant contacts with their electors in keeping with the special quarantine requirements; they had also met shahid families and gazies taking an immediate interest in their problems.

Deputy Chairman of the Agrarian Policy Committee Sabir Hajiyev and the MPs Igbal Mammadov and Emin Hajiyev took part in the meeting as well.
