Milli Majlis Chair Sahiba Gafarova Meets Kazakh Ambassador to Azerbaijan

Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova had a meeting on 24 August with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Republic of Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan Serjan Abdikarimov.

Welcoming the visitor, Madame Speaker said about the great importance she attached to the furtherance of Azerbaijan’s ties with the friendly Kazakhstan. She recalled the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and Kazakhstan’s first president Elbashi Nursultan Nazarbayev as the two men who had laid the foundation of our bonds of friendship. The current heads of the two states continue the same policy successfully, according to Mrs Gafarova.

Speaker Sahiba Gafarova underlined the evolution of the inter-parliamentary relations, too, before lauding the co-operation between the friendship groups active in the legislatures of the two countries. Reciprocal visits of Azerbaijani and Kazakh MPs and their regular encounters under the rooves of influential international parliamentary organisations are essential for discussion of subjects of shared interest. Madame Speaker also emphasised the importance of our co-operation under the aegis of the TurkPA.

The ambassador of Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan Serjan Abdikarimov thanked Chair Gafarova for the warm welcome before recalling the ancient history of our nations’ interaction and mentioning the progress of the Kazakh-Azerbaijani economic, cultural and humanitarian co-operation.

Mr Abdikarimov stressed that Azerbaijan’s glorious victory made peace and security in the region firmer.   

According to Mr Ambassador who highlighted the significance of our MPs’ encounters on various platforms and of their mutual visits, Kazakhstan has always supported the just standpoint of Azerbaijan.

The meeting also saw an exchange of opinions about the pandemic, the developments in the region and other matters of concern to both parties.
