A telephone conversation takes place between Speaker of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova and Chairman of Federal National Council of UAE Saqr Ghobash

Chairman of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates Saqr Ghobash has telephoned Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova.

The processes unfolding in the region were discussed in the telephone conversation. The Speakers expressed serious concerns in connection with the unfounded attacks by the Islamic Republic of Iran on the territories and civilian populations of both countries, and strongly deplored such actions.

The Speakers emphasised that the peoples of both Azerbaijan and the United Arab Emirates are adherent to peace and stability, whilst such attacks directed against the civilian population are unacceptable.

Stressing in light of recent events that the United Arab Emirates stand in solidarity with the Republic of Azerbaijan, the country's leadership and our people, Saqr Ghobash underlined the significance of solidarity and co-operation between our friendly countries.

As they pointed up the need to refrain from steps that could lead to further escalation of tension, the Speakers stated that parliaments representing peoples play a particular role in encouraging dialogue and mutual understanding.

The importance of respecting the sovereignty of states, observing the principles of international law and the UN Charter and strengthening co-operation and solidarity between friendly countries for the sake of preserving security and stability in the region was also emphasised in the telephone conversation. The significance of enhancing co-ordination and consultations between friendly countries from the standpoint of ensuring regional security and stability was underscored as well.
