Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to our country Elchin Gasimov on 24 November.

Speaker Sahiba Gafarova congratulated the Ambassador on the start of his tenure and wished him success in the forthcoming work.

Contentment was expressed at the meeting with the high level of the relations between our countries; it was said that the Joint Declaration of Building a Strategic Partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Slovak Republic, which had been signed during the visit of Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic Robert Fico to our country, had transferred our ties to a new stage qualitatively.

The intensity of reciprocal visits between our countries was commended upon, and their input in the relationship was emphasised during the conversation.

The Ambassador conveyed to the Speaker of the Parliament of Azerbaijan the greetings of Chairman of the National Council of the Slovak Republic Richard Raši. He also offered congratulations on the Victory Day on 8 November.

They observed the progress of the ties between the legislative bodies and talked about the existing fine opportunities to broaden those contacts further. In this regard, emphasis was placed on the positive role of reciprocal visits of the Speakers of Parliament as well as of MPs in the continued expansion of the links between the legislative assemblies.

Also, the conversation covered opportunities to build co-operation between our Parliaments along all the vectors including interaction amongst parliamentary committees.
