Speaker of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova Meets with Chairman of Chamber of Representatives of Majlisi Oli of Tajikistan

Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met on 29 October with Chairman of the Chamber of Representatives of Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan Fayzali Idizoda who is visiting in our country for the International Parliamentary Conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Speaker Sahiba Gafarova congratulated Fayzali Idizoda on the election as Chairman of the Chamber of Representatives and voiced the appreciation of Tajikistan’s high-level participation in this international conference.

It was remarked during the meeting that our peoples are united by common cultural and spiritual values; the importance of further developing these ties was high-lit. It was also stressed that the relations between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan have reached the level of strategic partnership based on mutual understanding, and that the particular role in achieving the current high level of these relations rests with our Heads of State. As was said, the Azerbaijan-Tajikistan relations are developing successfully today thanks to the fruitful policies pursued by our Presidents for the well-being of our states and peoples as well as thanks to the full support from our peoples.

They expressed contentment also with the current level of relations between our Parliaments.

Speaking at the meeting, Fayzali Idizoda conveyed congratulations on the initialling of the peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova underlined the significance for the region of both the negotiations held in Washington, D.C. and the normalisation process as a whole.

There was also an exchange of opinion about other matters of shared interest.
