Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met on 28 October with Chairman of the Senate of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Sayed Raza Gilani who is visiting in our country to take part in the International Parliamentary Conference ‘Constitution as the Foundation of the Independence and Sovereignty of States in the Contemporary World’, which is dedicated to the 30^th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The importance of the International Parliamentary Conference was underlined and the key role of Constitution in strengthening the legal foundations of state, society development, maintenance of political stability and protection of citizens’ rights and freedoms was spoken of at the meeting.

It was said that our country had put an end to the 30-year-long Armenian occupation and restored her territorial integrity and sovereignty thanks to the Victory achieved by Azerbaijan. It was remarked that the declaration of the year 2025 ‘The Year of Constitution and Sovereignty’ in Azerbaijan as decreed by President Ilham Aliyev had a significant political importance and a symbolic meaning in this context.

Satisfaction was expressed at the meeting with the historical relations of friendship and brotherhood existing between our countries, and the special role of the Leaders of the countries in deepening those ties was emphasised. Also was lauded the co-operation between the legislative bodies, bilaterally and upon various platforms, in the expansion of the bilateral relations.

The Third Trilateral Meeting of the Speakers of Parliament Azerbaijan-Pakistan-Türkiye in Islamabad last month was mentioned with satisfaction; its outcomes were praised highly and it was said that that meeting had contributed importantly to the on-going expansion of the inter-state relations.
