Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met on 22 October with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia Margus Tsahkna who is visiting in our country.

Talking at the meeting of the friendship ties and mutually advantageous co-operation bonding our countries, the Speaker pointed up the substantial role that reciprocal summit and high-level visits and meetings as well as the documents signed play in the progress of the inter-state relations. Also, she recalled fondly her meetings she had held during her official visit to Estonia three years ago.

It was remarked in the course of the conversation that there are fine opportunities to continue the development of the bilateral relations in diverse fields.

Besides, Speaker Sahiba Gafarova shared with the visitor her thoughts about the Washington meeting and the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalisation process, and informed him of her meeting with the Speaker of the Parliament of Armenia that had taken place in Geneva.

Whilst telling about the meeting with President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan today, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia Margus Tsahkna mentioned the exchange of views on deepening the co-operation encompassing various areas of the bilateral relations that had taken place at that meeting. It was said that Estonia regards Azerbaijan as a very important partner in the region and is interested in deepening the relationship with Azerbaijan across all the vectors.

He also offered his congratulations on the occasion of the achievements secured at the meeting between Azerbaijan and Armenia in Washington, D.C., and lauded the role of our country in maintaining peace, stability as well as co-operation in the region.

It was stressed during the meeting that inter-parliamentary connexions constitute an important component of the countries’ bilateral and multilateral relations; the importance of the mutually beneficial co-operation on international platforms and the significance of the work done by the friendship groups active in the legislative bodies were high-lit as well.
