Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova received the delegation led by Secretary General of the TURKPA Ramil Hasan on 15 October.

Speaker Sahiba Gafarova congratulated the Organisation’s Secretary General on the start of the new activity and wished him success in the forthcoming efforts.

It was remarked that strengthening the unity and solidarity of our peoples which have common roots and share the common national spiritual values, as well as a continued solidification of bilateral and multilateral ties, mutual support and combined activities of our brotherly countries have a tremendous role in the Turkic co-operation organisations. The importance of deepening the co-operation in the TURKPA, amongst those, was underlined; it was said also that the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States had become an efficient mutually advantageous interaction mechanism for our parliaments whilst serving as an important platform enabling the realisation of our common interests.

The great importance that the Milli Majlis attaches to the activities in the format of this Organisation was brought up. As Speaker Sahiba Gafarova said, the co-operation by the Milli Majlis in the TURKPA format as well as the ties with the Organisation’s Member States’ Parliaments rest on the thought of President Ilham Aliyev: ‘Our family is the Turkic World. We have no other family.’

The meeting saw an exchange of opinions about continuing the Organisation’s activities as effectively and purposefully in the period ahead.

Secretary General of the TURKPA Ramil Hasan expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him, saying that the Organisation he is heading will continue exerting efforts to broaden its operations and to deepen the co-operation amongst the Parliaments of its brotherly Member States further.

The TURKPA Deputy Secretary Generals Talgat Aduov, Saky Sadikov and Muhammet Alper Hayali took part in the meeting as well.
