Speaker of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova Meets Inbound Ambassador of State of Israel to Our Country

Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has had a meeting with the newly-appointed Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the State of Israel to our country Ronen Krausz on 11 September.
Having congratulated the Ambassador with the posting, Speaker Sahiba Gafarova wished him success in the diplomatic tenure in our country.
Contentment was voiced during the meeting with the expansion of the co-operation between our friendly and partnerly countries, both in the already traditional areas and along a number of new vectors; it was added that there were sound opportunities to advance the links’ development further.
The conversation touched upon the significance of contacts amongst people as one of the tokens of the favourable relations of our states and peoples, and was emphasised also that Jews have lived and are living now in the ambience of peace, friendship and mutual understanding in Azerbaijan, a multicultural and tolerant country. At the same time, the Azerbaijani community active in Israel – including our compatriots of the Jewish background living in that country – are contributing in their own way to the progress of the bilateral relations as well.
Also, the unique role of the parliaments in the progress of the relations between our countries was brought up at the meeting. Speaker Sahiba Gafarova mentioned her meeting with Speaker of the Knesset of Israel Amir Ohana in Uzbekistan in April this year before underlining the significance of the contacts between our parliaments and of reciprocal visits as well as the work done by the friendship groups.
Once again, the importance of the working visit of President Ilham Aliyev to the United States of America on the invitation of President Donald Trump, of the conversations held there, the agreements secured and the documents signed during the visit was high-lit as the meeting continued. Speaker Sahiba Gafarova talked about the importance of fulfilling the obligations assumed pursuant to the Washington Agreements, remarking that she hoped a peace treaty would be signed between the parties soon enough.
The meeting also had an exchange of opinions about other topics of shared concern.
