Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova had a meeting with Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the State of Palestine to our country Ahmed Metani on 3 September.

At the meeting, Speaker Sahiba Gafarova congratulated the Ambassador on the start of his mission in our country and wished him success.

The conversation touched upon the friendly and brotherly relations between our nations – the relations based on their shared values. They also underlined the significance of the links between the two states and the gravitas of their mutual support in the international arena in the past period.

Ambassador Ahmed Metani thanked Azerbaijan for her support to the people of Palestine and for the efforts made to achieve the conflict’s resolution. He mentioned specifically the meeting with President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and shared his positive impressions from it.

Besides, the conversation had an exchange of thoughts about the issues of inter-parliamentary relations including co-operation in international parliamentary organisations. It was noted that our legislative assemblies co-operate successfully in such organisations as the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement, the Asian Parliamentary Assembly and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation.

The conversation also saw an exchange of ideas about other matters of shared interest.
