Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has had a meeting with the visiting delegation led by Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary Sándor Lezsák. As the conversation unfolded, they emphasised the existence of a strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Hungary, one that is based on friendship, mutual respect and close co-operation. It was also pointed out that our countries actively co-operate in the political, economic, energy, transport, agricultural, educational and other areas. The significant role of high-level reciprocal visits, including those of heads of state and government, in further expanding these relations was mentioned with a particular stress.
Then, they touched upon the ties between our countries’ legislative assemblies, which are as extensive as the bilateral relations in other areas are. It was emphasised that reciprocal visits of Heads of Parliament, Friendship Groups and MPs as well as their active contacts gave those times dynamism. Satisfaction was expressed with the co-operation of our legislatures in the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the OSCE PA, the NATO PA and other international parliamentary organisations.
The Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly conveyed to the Speaker of the Milli Majlis the regards and good wishes of the Speaker of the Parliament of Hungary László Kövér. He proceeded to say that his country attaches great importance to the development of relations with friendly Azerbaijan.
Besides, it was remarked at the meeting that our peoples shared similar values and that our humanitarian co-operation fostered a continued rapprochement of our peoples – as well as that the educational and cultural connexions are progressing successfully.
The meeting also saw an exchange of views upon other matters of shared concern.
