Delegation of Kuwaiti National Assembly at Milli Majlis

The Azerbaijani MPs who are members of the Working Group for inter-parliamentary relations with Kuwait had a meeting on 22 January with the visiting delegation headed by Muhammad Hayef al-Mutairi who leads the Kuwait-Azerbaijan inter-parliamentary relations group in Kuwait’s National Assembly.

The Head of the Milli Majlis Working Group for inter-parliamentary relations Azerbaijan-Kuwait Vahid Ahmadov told the guests that he was glad to greet them at the Azerbaijani legislature, congratulated them on the victory at the parliamentary ballot in Kuwait and wished them achievements in their work. Moving over to the subject of development of the bilateral interstate relations then, Mr Ahmadov underscored the great importance that Azerbaijan attaches to promoting its links with the Arab states in general and with Kuwait in particular. Vahid Ahmadov mentioned the sound relations between our Heads of State before talking with satisfaction about the constant advancement of the diverse links between our countries. He said he was certain that this current visit of the guests would foster a continued progress of our inter-parliamentary links.

The attending members of the aforementioned Azerbaijan-Kuwait Group Hijran Huseynova, Eldar Guliyev, Ali Masimli and Jeyhun Mammadov shared their ideas about the history and prospects of the two-way relations.

The Head of the Kuwait-Azerbaijan inter-parliamentary relations group in Kuwait’s National Assembly Muhammad Hayef al-Mutairi thanked for the hospitality. He mentioned the fine co-operation in many areas apace between Kuwait and Azerbaijan, mentioning, in particular, education and health care and adding that there are good opportunities to broaden that co-operation.

Opinions were exchanged about development of the inter-parliamentary connexions, a continued strengthening of economic, tourism, agricultural and other kinds of co-operation, the restoration and building work conducted by Azerbaijan in the de-occupied territories, the Islamic solidarity and other matters as the conversation went on.

The MPs are elected as based on the majority electoral system by free, private and confidential vote reliant on the general, equitable and immediate suffrage. The tenure of a Milli Majlis convocation is 5 years.
