At the Asian Parliamentary Assembly Gatherings

As reported earlier, the parliamentary delegation led by Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova are in Antalya, Turkey on a working visit for the 13th plenary session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly.

The delegation’s Ganira Pashayeva (chairs the Milli Majlis Culture Committee) and MPs Aydin Huseynov, Ilham Mammadov and Anar Mammadov have taken part not only in the 13th APA plenum but also in the meetings of the Assembly’s standing committees.

Such matters as, amongst others, the draft laws on the promotive measures concerning cultural diversity and the preservation of cultural values across Asia, on the Asian integration processes furthered by virtue of information and communication technologies, on co-operation to ensure equality in health care in Asia, the Asian parliamentarians against venality and the women parliamentarians of the APA were discussed at the meeting of the Standing Committee on Social and Cultural Affairs.

The Standing Committee on Political Affairs addressed the progress in the direction of Asian Parliament, proper governance, supremacy of law and judicial power, the positive parliamentary experiences and so forth.

As for the meeting of the Standing Committee on Economy and Sustainable Development, its participants homed in on forming an energy market and environmental matters, financial issues and eradication of poverty, the role of the APA parliaments in attaining the Sustainable Development Goals as well as other topics.

The members of the Azerbaijani parliamentary delegation took an active part in the debates and put forth a number of suggestions of their own.

The aforementioned Ganira Pashayeva was elected Chair of the Permanent Committee on Social and Cultural Affairs as well as Deputy Acting Chair of the organisation.

Incidentally, the APA plenary session in Türkiye was capped with the adoption of the Antalya Declaration.
