Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has appealed to the President and Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the European Parliament, the OSCE PA, the CIS IPA, the parliamentary assemblies of the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation, Economic Co-operation Organisation, Black Sea Economic Co-Operation and GUAM as well as to the Asian Parliamentary Assembly.

In her address, the Chair of the Milli Majlis says that Armenia had unleashed yet another provocation against Azerbaijan beginning in the night hours on 12 September 2022. Namely, the Armenian armed forces had subjected the positions of the Azerbaijani Army along the Azerbaijani-Armenian border’s Dashkasan, Kalbajar and Lachin sections to intensive fire. The Azerbaijani Side acted in reprisal; 50 Azerbaijani military personnel had fell shahids while the provocation was being curbed.

Further to the address, Sahiba Gafarova draws its recipients’ attention to the fact that Armenia has not withdrawn its armed detachments from Azerbaijan, continues mining territories of our country, is deploying heavy equipment and various armaments in the region and is firing upon our positions all along the border in blatant violation of the paragraphs of the Trilateral Declaration and the arrangements secured since.

It is emphasised in Chair Gafarova’s address that, contrary to Azerbaijan being at pains to establish lasting peace and stability in the region, Armenia stretches out the normalisation of the relations on various pretexts, demonstrates a destructive stance at the conversations arranged thanks to international efforts and hinders the opening of regional communications and transport routes. All those testify to Armenia’s being uninterested in the peace process as much as they do to Armenia’s intention to harm this process.

Azerbaijan is busy with the large-scope restoration of its de-occupied lands with reliance upon very substantial investments in the cause. A group of the former IDPs have been returning to those territories already. Meanwhile, Armenia is hampering all that with its provocations.

According to the address of the Chair of the Milli Majlis, Armenia continues breaking the ceasefire in place whereas Azerbaijan is taking the steps necessary for stabilisation of the situation and alleviation of the tensions. The military and political administration of Armenia are wholly liable for this provocation as well as the antagonism and the losses sustained consequently.

The Azerbaijani Side urges the international community to condemn such steps on Armenia’s behalf – the steps that are meant to dampen the efforts to maintain lasting peace and stability in the region, goes the address by Sahiba Gafarova.
