Chair of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova Meets Speakers of Both Chambers of Parliament of Jordan

Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova had a meeting on 1 July with the heads of both chambers of the Majlis Al-Umma of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan – Faisal Akif Al-Fayez of the Majlis Al-Ayan (Senate) and Abdel-Karim Faisal Deifullah Ad-Deghmi of the Majlis Al-Nuwaab (House of Representatives).

The Chair of the Milli Majlis greeted the Jordanian colleagues, stressed the importance of their attendance of the Baku Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement Baku Conference and thanked them for having been there. Sahiba Gafarova also underscored the eminence of the discussions held during the Conference and the momentousness of the opening address by President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan. The considerations regarding the role of the NAM in global developments and about also a number of currently relevant issues that the leader of Azerbaijan had put across in his address contain the central impulse to vectoring the activities of this organisation.

After that, the guests were told about Azerbaijan’s historical victory in the Patriotic War and the post-occupation restoration and reparation of the liberated territories. Mrs Gafarova told them of Azerbaijan’s unwavering advocacy of peace and stability and said she believed a peace accord would be inked with Armenia soon enough.

The inter-parliamentary connexions occupy a pride of place in the evolution of the relations between our states; it is gratifying as much as it is praiseworthy that the legislatures of both countries have the friendship groups taking care of those connexions, according to Sahiba Gafarova.

Abdel-Karim Faisal Deifullah Ad-Deghmi and Faisal Akif Al-Fayez both said their thanks for the warm welcome and hospitality, recalled with pleasure their participation of the NAM PN Baku Conference, stressed its high organisational levels, emphasised Azerbaijan’s serious role in the Movement, greeted the Azerbaijani initiative to incept the Parliamentary Network and underscored the weight of the matters considered during the Conference. The President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives also stressed Jordan’s interest in furthering its relations with Azerbaijan.

Opinions were exchanged about elimination of regional conflicts’ consequences, ways to resolve refugee and migration problems and other matters as the conversation went on.
