Rustamkhanli Sabir Khudu
Born in the village of Hamarkend of Yardimli region, May 20, 1946; graduated from the philology department at Azerbaijan State University; PhD in philological sciences; national poet of Azerbaijan; rewarded with “Shohrat” (Fame) order; author of over 30 books; foreign languages: Russian and Persian.
Chairman of the Assembly of the World Congress of Azerbaijanis.
Since 1967 junior literary worker, senior literary worker, Head of department, special correspondent at “Adabiyyat and Injasanat” (Literature and Art)” newspaper; since 1978 Head of department, Deputy editor-in-chief, editor-in-chief at the “Yazichi” (Writer) publishing house; between the years of 1989-1991 editor-in-chief of “Azerbaijan” newspaper, since 1991 Chairman of the State Press Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, between the years of 1992?1995 Minister of Media and Information.
Chairman of the Citizens’ Solidarity Party.
Was elected to a twelfth Supreme Soviet term and first and second Milli Mejlis terms of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
On November 06, 2005 re-elected as Member of Parliament from Yardimli-Masally Constituency No 72; member of the Standing Commission of the Milli Mejlis (Parliament) on International Relations and Inter-Parliamentary Relations; Head of the Azerbaijan-Canada working group on interparliamentary relations; member of the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan working group on interparliamentary relations.
Member of the Azerbaijani delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization of Islamic Conference.
Married, with four children.
