The Chairman of the Milli Mejlis of Azerbaijan Republic 

Oktay Asadov

 Since 24 November 2015 Chairman of the Milli Mejlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Born in the Sheherjik village of Gafan region of the Republic of Armenia, January 3, 1955; graduated from the Machinery Technology Department at the Azerbaijan State Oil and Chemistry Institute;  foreign languages: Russian and English.

Member of the International Water Association.

From 1976 assistant to foreman and later foreman at the Baku Domestic Air-Conditioners Plant; from 1979 Senior Engineer at the Office of Major Installations and Special Construction Works in Azerbaijan; from 1981 Senior Technologist, Head of department, and Head of Union at “Azersantekhgurashdirma” (Azerbaijantechinstallation) Trust of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Major Installations and Special Construction Works; In the years of 1996-2005 - President of Absheron Regional Water Joint Stock Company.

Member of the Political Council of The New   Azerbaijan Party.

Was elected to a second Milli Mejlis term of the Republic of Azerbaijan. On November 6, 2005 re-elected as Member of Parliament from Absheron Constituency No 45.

Head of the Azerbaijani delegation to the CIS Parliamentary Assembly.

Married, with 2 children. 

 

First Deputy of the Chairman of the Milli Mejlis of Azerbaijan Republic 

Ziyafet Asgarov
 Since 24 November 2015 First Deputy of the Chairman of the Milli Mejlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Born in the Ashagi Uzunoba village of Babek region, Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, October 24, 1963; graduated with a diploma of honor from the Department of Law of Azerbaijan State University; PhD in law, professor; author of one textbook and teaching materials; foreign languages: Russian and French.
Member of the working group of the Commission in charge of working out the first national Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 1995.
Member of the Anti-Corruption Committee under the Governing Council of the Civil Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Since 1990 lecturer, Head lecturer, associate professor, Deputy Head of the Chair on Constitutional Law, and Deputy dean of the Department of Law at the Baku State University; currently professor of the Chair on Constitutional Law at the same university.
Member of the Political Council of The New   Azerbaijan Party.
Was elected to first and second Milli Mejlis terms of the Republic of Azerbaijan; since 24 November 2000 Deputy Chairman of the Parliament, and Chairman of the Standing Commission on Security and Defense Issues.
On November 6, 2005 re-elected to a third Milli Mejlis term of the Republic of Azerbaijan from Lenkaran-Astara Constituency No 76; Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Milli Mejlis (Parliament) on Security and Defense Issues.
Head of the delegation of Azerbaijan to NATO Parliamentary Assembly.

Deputy of the Chairman of the Milli Mejlis of Azerbaijan Republic 

Bahar Muradova

 Deputy Chairperson of the Milli Mejlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan since November 24, 2015.
Born in the city of Fuzuli, March 20, 1962; graduated with honors from the Baku Light Industry Technical College; graduated from the Department of Philology and Department of Law of the Azerbaijan State University; foreign languages: Russian and English.
Since 1981 supervisor & sewing-machine operator at the Baku garment factory; since 1989 Executive Secretary of the Azerbaijan Society of Voluntary Book Lovers; since 1992 Executive Secretary of the Yasamal district chapter of “Gayghı” (Care) society; since 1993 instructor at the Yasamal District Executive Power; between the years of 1995-2000 reviewer at the social and political department of the Presidential Executive office of the Republic of Azerbaijan;
Since 2000 - Deputy Executive Secretary of the New  Azerbaijan Party.
Member of the Political Council and Governing Board of the New  Azerbaijan Party.
Was elected to a second Milli Mejlis term of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
On November 6, 2005 re-elected as Member of Parliament from Fizuli Constituency No 84.
Head of the Azerbaijani delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the OSCE.
Married, with one child.

Deputy of the Chairman of the Milli Mejlis of Azerbaijan Republic 

Valeh Alasgarov

 Since November 24, 2015 Deputy speaker of the Parliament.
Was born at the settlement of Qarayeri of Samukh region; graduated from the Department of Petroleum Reservoir Development Processes and Integrated Mechanization at the Azerbaijan State Oil and Chemistry Institute;  Honored engineer; rewarded with “Shohrat” (Fame) order; author of numerous scientific works and inventions; foreign languages: Russian and English.
Since 1970 senior engineer, Head of the shift, shop superintendent, and chief engineer at Kungurneft Oil & Gas Production Enterprise of “Permneft” Company; since 1982 Head of division at the Permneft Research and Designing Institute; since 1985 chief engineer, Deputy Head of Muradkhanly Oil & Gas Production Enterprise; since 1987 chief engineer, Deputy general director of Azerneft Association; since 1992 vice president of Azerneft State Company, first vice president, and advisor to the president of the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic; since 1995 Head of the Foreign Investment Department at the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Independent.
On November 6, 2005 elected as Member of Parliament from Samukh-Shamkir Constituency No 102; Chairman of the Standing Commission of the Milli Mejlis (Parliament) on Natural Resources, Energy and Environmental Issues.
Head of the EU-Azerbaijan parliamentary cooperation committee.
Married, with 4 children.
